17th October 2022 – Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India scheduled its Board Meeting today at its registered office in SEEPZ, Mumbai. Mr. Sanjay Kothari the Chairman of GJSCI who was elected in October 2018, has completed his term making way for a new Chairman to be elected by the Board. Mr. Adil Kotwal, Managing Director, Creation Jewellery has been voted as the new Chairman of GJSCI with immediate effect.

Mr. Sanjay Kothari who needs no introduction has been a stalwart of the Indian gems and jewellery industry. During his tenure as Chairman and with due credit to his leadership skills he has achieved many milestones for GJSCI as mentioned below.

JADE – Centre for Jewellery Artificial intelligence and Data Science Excellence a project based on AI/ML.

IJES – India Jewellery Excellence Symposium, a project bringing Experts worldover on a single platform to share their expertise on the know how of Jewellery making.

JOSH – Jewellery Occupational Skilling Hub a venture with Industry partners based on Demand lead training.

Design Connect – a program where leading Industry partners seeking young talented candidates in the field of Designing meet well qualified and aspiring youth from across the country seeking employment.

Crafts Pavilion – As part of IIJS an initiative which strives to promote languishing heritage jewellery artforms from being lost forever and providing opportunities to the artisans most of who have been struggling to sustain.

Sanjaybhai, as he is dearly known by many, has been instrumental in promulgating GJSCI PAN India. Sanjaybhai quoted ‘’All these 4 years inspite of the pandemic, for almost two years GJSCI could do it’s bit for betterment of industry which has been due to the support and cooperation from the board members, industry stalwarts and above all by Secretariat under the able leadership of ED & CEO – Rajeev Garg – I extend my gratitude to all‘’ in addition he also hopes that the New board will continue under the chairmanship of Mr. Adil Kotwal the projects undertaken by the earlier board and may undertake other initiatives to create more jobs and enhance the existing skills of our artisans .
