On the invite from Gem & Jewellery National Relief Foundation, Lt. General H.S. Kahlon, GOC, MG & G area visited Bharat Diamond Bourse on 19th April 2022.

Gem & Jewellery National Relief Foundation has done significant relief and welfare work for the Indian Army after Kargil War. To name a few, construction of Diamond AWWA Hostel with the capacity to stay 100 students, Gem & Jewellery Defence Welfare Corpus to provide scholarship to about 1500 children of defence personnel every year.  Provision of computers to Army schools and provision of medical equipment to Army Hospitals.

During the visit, Lt. General H.S. Kahlon was shown Security Control and Command Centre and Mumbai Diamond Merchant’s Association (MDMA) hall.  He was very much impressed with the facilities available at both the centers.

After the presentation of bouquet, a short film was displayed showing relief activities carried out by GJNRF so far.

In the short speech, Shri Sanjaybhai A. Kothari, Chairman of Gem & Jewellery National Relief Foundation and chairman of Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India, offered all the help to raise an additional floor to Diamond AWWA Hostel.

He also briefed about trade related training program conducted by Gem & Jewellery Skill Council of India.  These training programs are conducted free of charge and also paid stipend and travelling allowance to the participants, during training.  After completion of training course, the employment in the trade is almost guaranteed. He requested GOC if any children of Army personnel are interested in these training program, they are most welcome.

Shri Anoopbhai Mehta briefed about Bharat Diamond Bourse and also highlighted relief provided by Bharat Diamond Bourse to Army during covid pandemic.

Lt. General H.S. Kahlon, GOC acknowledged and appreciated the relief and welfare work done by GJNRF for the Army and for the society.  He requested the members to visit the Paraplegic Rehabilitation Centre at Pune which provides holistic and lifelong care to the injured ex-servicemen from the Armed Forces.

The meeting was concluded with the vote of thanks by Shri Ramnikbhai P. Shah, Managing Trustee of GJNRF.
