National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) is holding a diamond viewing session at Navratna Gallery, Surat from 23rd February 2022 to 4th March 2022. Rough diamonds of about 8336.45 carats including gem rough diamonds weighing 2 carats up to 34 carats will be on display. This will be followed by e-auction on 7th and 8th March 2022.

National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) is a government owned mineral producer. 

Speaking about the Navratna Gallery and the diamond auction, Dinesh Navadia, Regional Chairman, Surat region said, “Diamond auction by NMDC will be the longest session since the start of Navratna Gallery in 2021. This will tremendously help the local trade as this will give them direct access of rough diamonds. I appeal out our members to take maximum benefit of this opportunity.”

Navratna Gallery was set up and inaugurated by The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) on 16th August 2021 to address the Gem & Jewellery trade need to have a dedicated trading platform in Surat throughout the year to enable sellers to meet buyers directly. 

The Gallery is developed in an area of approx. 2750 sq. ft. at Bhimrad, Surat (1 km away from Surat Diamond Bourse) and has been developed with state-of-the-art facilities and security measures. So far 4 Pre-auction viewing events have been held at Navratna Gallery. 

The facility is at par with international Safety & Security norms, where in all Gem & Jewellery members can trade / exhibit their goods such as Rough Diamonds, CPD Diamonds, Synthetic Diamonds, Precious / Semi – precious stones, Gold / Silver  – Plain & Studded  jewellery, Imitation Jewellery, Fashion Jewellery, Costume Jewellery, articles, etc. The premises may be hired to conduct private exhibition, B2B meetings etc.
